As an aspiring writer of colour I feel tremendous pressure to avoid writing characters that are diverse because what is selling right now is books with predominantly Caucasian characters, but the pressure as of late has subsided what has shifted for me is the foremost goal to write a great book to keep the diversity in my books the same and hope for the best in regards to getting an agent and published and hoping that one day diversity will be reflected of diverse readers.
