Drop By and Introduce Yourself

I’m heading out to my boys’ Christmas program, but before I go, I’d love to learn more about those of you out there reading. Even if you comment regularly, tell me something new I might not know about you. If you comment occasionally or never, come on over and introduce yourself!

The blogosphere is a pretty sterile environment. It would be fun to learn more about all of you as people, not just pictures on my screen.

I know many of you who signed up through Feedburner don’t have Blogger accounts. Drop me an email, if you’d like: carolinestarr AT yahoo DOT com.

Thank you to all my readers for joining in the conversation.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi, Caroline! I live in central Virginia, where I write middle grade and work at the circulation desk of my local library. I also love to knit, crochet, read, hike, and hang out with my husband, our dog and cat, and our wonderful friends.

Live turkeys and the idea of wax museums creep me out. Fortunately, I’ve never been to a wax museum, but I do see a live turkey from time to time.

I belong to a fantastic critique group, the Slushbusters. We all write for children, none are published yet, but we’re working on it!

    Enjoy your boys’ Christmas program!
You helped me start my mother/daughter book club with your invaluable “how to” list.
I’m a mom of 3, I live in AR, I’m currently reading Persuaion by Jane Austen and I’m so not prepared for Christmas! Ahh!

    Hi Caroline,

I love your blog. Something you don’t know .. hm… I have a Masters in deaf education and used to teach at a school for the deaf. I really miss signing!

    How’s that?

    Hi Caroline
I am a devoted husband and father of 3-all young-5, 3 and a half and Maddie turned 2 today.

I am a writer with my first speculative historical action-adventure novel being released in early 2010.

Michelle, I used to live in Fairfax County and taught in FCPS. And I loved our library system. Go, VA librarians!

Corey, thanks so much! My school in Fairfax actually was a magnet school for deaf children, and while I only had one deaf student (who came to class with her interpreter), I often ate lunch with the signing adults. Very interesting.

David, I’m going to enjoy your blog series, I can already tell. Happy birthday to your daughter –December’s a perfect month for birthdays(mine was Wednesday).
You’ll have to explain your genre!

    Gerbera Daisy Mom,
How’s that book club going?? I’ve thought of you over the months.

I read Persuasion last summer, my second Jane Austen book ever.

Hi Caroline! I have 4 kids, ages 23, 19, 17, and 14. (boy, boy, girl, boy) I work in an elementary school office and have just started the holiday!!!! (I am thrilled!) I finished writing my first novel this summer and have been editing it this fall, hoping to complete it by the New Year. Oh, I’m a pastor’s wife, and that keeps me busy too! lol

Hi Caroline! I live outside of Boston, Mass. with my husband and our imaginary rabbit (I’m hoping one day we’ll get a real one). I write mostly MG fantasy and am working with my agent to hopefully get some of it published soon. I teach courses on writing and children’s lit. in the Boston area. Enjoy the Xmas program!

    Hey Caroline,
Something you don’t know? Geez, I blab so much I don’t know if there’s anything you don’t know. LOL

Ok, scary, but don’t worry, I’m not stalking anyone…I love my online group of friends. I’m in a situation right now where I do not have any “tangible” friends. No one is near by that I can truly relate to, and have them relate to me. I totally rely on my facebook and blog. :0) Pathetic for as social as I used to be.

Nice idea Caroline. I’m enjoying reading about everyone here. Think I’ve found a few new blogs to follow!

I’m the first (and only) female Conservation Officer in Ontario working in the Great Lakes division. I operate a very large boat. But on my days off I like to race in a little canoe with my man and scream at each other to paddle harder. It’s more fun than it sounds.

I also like to write middle grade and YA novels about dogsledding, my first being published in 2011.

I sing badly and I’m afraid of turtles.

This has been really fun. Some of these things I already knew about a few of you (guess I’ve been paying attention), and the rest is fun to learn.

The Christmas program was precious, as all Christmas programs should be!

Anyone else out there who would like to share?

Lets see you asked me to explain my genre.

I like historical and action but I also like fantasy so whenever there is room for speculation and some interesting What If’s I like to throw them in there.

I would hope my stuff would appeal to anyone who likes Lord of the Rings/Gladiator/Braveheart and Ivanhoe did I cheat using a couple movies in there instead of just novels?

Hi, I’m a Las Vegas native and have 4 young children, including twins.

I’m a chocolate stashing Librarian and bibliophile. 🙂

I started writing seriously a year ago. I write a little of everything: poetry, essays and a YA fantasy (my first manuscript).

    Hi Caroline,
My name is Maureen and I live in Tasmania the tiny island state of Australia so your seasons and such are all topsy turvy to me, but that’s okay it makes life interesting. I’m a newish published author of children’s fiction, although lately I’ve become fascinated by song lyrics and have had some success within the country music industry but I’m very much still in the learning curve stage. Life continues to be an amazing experience.
I hope you and your loved ones have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

Hi, Caroline. I am a CPA living in Central Kentucky. I have a 10-yr-old daughter and a son who turned seven today. I am currently editing a romantic suspense and had hoped to have edits completed before the start of my busy tax season. Oh, well. We don’t always meet those ambitious goals.

    Merry Christmas!

    Hi Caroline,

I grew up without running water and electricity in a small town in Nevada. Many of my memories were woven into my (first!) novel written last month during NaNoWiMo. I’m looking forward to returning to this project after the kids are back in school, but am also nervous about how to take such raw material and shape it into a true story.

I enjoy your blog; it’s such a positive and encouraging spot to visit. Thank you!

    Sherrinda, I’m also a pastor’s wife.

Jemi, after hearing about the Spock’s Brain episode years ago, my husband proudly showed it to me last year. Ridiculously entertaining.

David, throwing in some movies with your list of novels worked for me. I have a better sense of your genre now. Thanks!

Rachael, so glad to have found your blog via my lovely friend Jamie, at Steady Mom. Good for you for finishing NaNo. My MS shriveled and died after a week.

Kristen, I still find it so interesting that Dayle from my critique group is actually your critique partner, too! Small world.

Heather, December birthdays are the best.

Terresa, librarians are some of my favorite people, especially the chocolate-stashing kind.

Maureen, I was an exchange student in Adelaide twenty years ago. I made sure to introduce my boys to Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, which I picked up when I returned to Oz in 1992.

Hey, I should have posted here earlier!
    Something about me?

I have one son, one husband, and two cats.
I write YA, MG and illustrate, and I work on screenplays with my husband, the indie film maker.
I just started agent hunting this past August, when I also turned 30-which means I am officially an adult, I suppose.

I’m in the middle of revisions on a new YA, and I have a really good feeling about 2010.

    Also, I loooooove coffee. Yum.
