How Authors’ Kids Talk

What my seven-year-old said after writing a story in his free time:
“Now all I have to do is send it to a publisher and make sure the spelling’s right.”

I love the optimism! That’s what so great about kids.

My teen daughter read over a revised version of one of my latest novels and said, “It’s better, but still not as good as Harry Potter.” [Like that’s a realistic goal for me to shoot for!]

    How writer’s kids really talk.

My daughter after watching me bang away at the keys.

“Mommy, when you get published and we’re rich, can we get a pony?”

I love your son. Sounds like he’s going to be a writer as well.

Haha, that’s awesome. Two of my kids have started writing, and are having so much fun entertaining the other 3 with their stories. I love it! I also like how they’re talking about getting published, but understand that it takes a long time to do so, because they’ve really learned that it’s not an instant-gratification kind of endeavour.

Omigosh, I LOVE this! And so close to my 8-year-old daughter’s comment when I signed with Michelle: Can she publish my stories, too?

    Oh I lOVE that!!!

My girls are always trying to write books, and I wonder if they’d do that without seeing me doing it.

Sadly, they are also aware of how long publication takes and how many rejections there are beforehand. Lucky for them, mom doesn’t reject before printing. πŸ™‚

Okay, that is just awesome! My 5-year-old remembers the names of my books sometimes… and some of my friend’s books, too. We’ll see what the coming years bring. πŸ˜‰

I love that the spelling comes after sending the work in.

    Caroline, that’s adorable.

And you never know, he might wind up writing a novel someday.
