Join Me for an Author Study with Kwame Alexander and Tracey Baptiste

The incomparable Kwame Alexander has started a program called Author Study, an accessible and inexpensive way to virtually bring authors into schools, libraries, and homeschool settings. Tracey Baptiste and I will be joining Kwame February 3 for a lesson on revision. I hope to see some of you there!

From the Author Study website:

Imagine what students can learn about the power of revision from three prolific and acclaimed authors in a 45-minute live, virtual author visit!

First, students hear Kwame will read from one of his beloved books, highlighting how his own revision process makes his work shine.

Then Kwame will teach a brief writing craft lesson focused on revising and editing.

Next, students will learn from a conversation between Kwame, Tracey, and Caroline about how revising and editing differ, and about these authors’ tricks and tips to the revision process.

Our virtual author visit concludes with a live Q&A, where students get to ask Kwame whatever is on their minds!

Teachers will receive lesson handouts one day prior to the event so students can follow along more easily.

Plus, registered attendees will receive a link to the recording of the livestream that you can access for 10 days after the live date. This can alleviate scheduling and tech challenges, or allow students who are absent for the live event to view it later.

Our February 3rd event is recommended for students in upper-elementary through high school grades, but all ages and grade levels are welcome. This event will run 45 minutes (1:00-1:45pm ET / 10:00 – 10:45am PT) and will include an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter.
