My grandmother’s poetry collection became mine when she passed away. Here are some of her Edna St. Vincent Millays.

Caroline, I really enjoyed your interview with Laura Shovan! Elena brought home a most interesting poetry book from school this week called Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices by Paul Fleischman. Didn’t realize at first that it won the Newbery Medal. I have never seen poetry in that form before. Elena is quite taken with it!

      So glad to hear it.

A Joyful Noise is wonderful! When did my student teaching in Rio Rancho, we studied the Rio Grande along with our science and social studies classes. I remember taking a field trip to the river, studying mayflies, and then reading the mayfly poem. Magic.

Loved your insightful interview on Laura Shovan’s blog. I tried to comment there but it didn’t seem to work.

Also enjoyed reading Susan Knell’s post at Nerdy Book Club about Lee Bennett Hopkins. Just realized I’ve already read the inspiring conversation with Kwame Alexander and Nikki Grimes at PW. Now I need to check out the other links. Thank you!
