School Library Journal’s Battle of the Kids’ Books is a competition between 16 of the very best books for young people of the year, judged by some of the biggest names in children’s books.

    Ooo, this looks like fun. How thrilling that Richard Peck is the final judge!

    I’m mystified by some of the match-ups. The books are so different it would be nearly impossible to compare them.

    Joanne, I have to confess I’ve only read a few on the list this year, though I have one sitting on my shelf — Countdown, which my puppy purchased for me from the library (must have been too tasty to refuse).

    Sophia, nice to meet you too! I like your idea of keeping the books you’re reading to four. If I read just one at a time, don’t think I’d enjoy it as much. Somehow having several books going at once is mentally stimulating and luxurious. More than four, and I’m probably going to forget one.
