Springfield, Missouri: The Library Center
I’ve never seen a library this amazing! There’s a gift shop, coffee shop, gorgeous children’s wing, and a variety of programs for all sorts of readers.
I did my Buckboards, Buffalo Chips, and Bloomers presentation, an interactive talk about the American Frontier.
I also met blogging friend and librarian extraordinaire Sarah Bean Thompson, of Green Bean Teen Queen.
Neosho, Missouri: book club
These colorful ladies are members of my mom’s book club. Anyone remember my post about The Little Nippers, my mom’s childhood club? Three Nippers are in this picture. My mother also enjoys napping while pictures are taken.
Dad and Mom
While I was in town, another Nipper mailed this insert from the Denver Post.
Joplin, MO: author tea
Lovely young readers!
The author sleeps again.
Bentonville, AR: Crystal Bridges Museum
My mom and I took a day trip to this wonderful new American art museum.
While away I ran the Joplin Memorial 5k and took part in several other Joplin tornado events, read journalist Rick Bragg’s ALL OVER BUT THE SHOUTIN’*, a stunning, honest memoir and tribute to his mother, watched the first season of Downton Abbey, and re-worked a synopsis. It all was a great way to recharge.
*I heard Rick speak at the Jambalaya Writers’ Conference in March. Here’s a sweet picture of him with his mama.
Looks like you had a truly fabulous time!
I must say, that tree sculpture is gorgeous!
Wow, so much great stuff. Thanks for sharing! And yes, that sculpture is awesome!
Isn’t it??
Love these pictures! Glad it was a good trip.

Awesome pictures. I’d love to meet Sarah. I love her blog. Glad the trip went well.
This is fantastic, Caroline. Very beautiful photos, and so good to see how your book continues to soar.
Thank you, friends!
How fun! You look so cute! I’ve been so behind on blogging lately–I need to catch up on all you’ve been doing. Were you IN DENVER?!
Sarah, I wasn’t. My mother’s friend who lives there saw this in the Colorado Kids insert and sent it along. Congrats on baby, by the way!
I am a huge fan of Rick Bragg. PRINCE OF FROGTOWN might be my favorite. And the sleeping author is quite adorable. So glad you had this wonderful experience! Oh, and on to Downton Abbey season 2! Even better than season 1!!
He’s wonderful, isn’t he? Must read his others. I must confess, I do like a good nap, though doing so while standing in a crowd is a little ridiculous! 🙂 Looking forward to season two.
What a great week of memories!
