I just visited Valerie’s site and saw your interview – and read every single word!
I love Phantom Tollbooth, too. That was one of my chosen titles when I taught Freshmen. You are the only person I know (besides me, of course) who has read Follow My Leader. That was my very favorite book in grade school. π
That’s a great interview! I love that you have dived into both MG and YA. I started out YA, swerved back to MG (my kids wanted me to write something they could read) and now I’ve just finished the rough draft of another YA novel. I can’t decide which I enjoy more, and I’m drawn to different aspects of both.
It’s interesting to me that you sought an agent that covered both (and picture books too?)-I hope to start an agent search sometime after the first of the year, and originally I was thinking just MG, because that’s the MS I have ready. But I think a broader approach is a smart idea.
Love the Prydain Chronicles. I also love that you keep a picture of your ten-year-old self on your bulletin board. That speaks to me on a very deep level.
I am doing an upcoming post on people whose blogs I haunt who recently landed agents or contracts. Are you happy for me to shout out your blog and accomplishment?
Just email me if you are not otherwise I will go ahead. Thanks.

Great interview!
Isn’t it fun to have books in common?

Good luck with your submissions! Keep in touch!
I also enjoyed reading the YA/middle grade parts of the interview. Well done.

Hey Care!
Have you read any of the books by Lois Duncan? She has written both YA and picture books and she is one of my favorite authors!
I have not read the Phantom Tollbooth, but I plan on picking it up to read during my Holiday trip.
Congratulations on the agent! I am very proud of you!
Loved the interview!
Hey Steph! So fun to see you here. Thanks for being proud of me. Still means a lot, after all these years.
Great interview! I have my first one tomorrow over at Kristi Faith’s blog. It feels like being a real author, doesn’t it? π
We have a lot of book loves in common. I can’t wait to read yours, and give it to my daughter!
Heidi, I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
