On My Nightstand

Here’s the latest. There’s the one that’s been languishing for two plus years (someday I really will read it), a book from a series my son asked me to read, the verse novel that won the Jefferson Cup for Young Adults, a couple I picked up in PEI and haven’t read since I was a girl, three non-fiction books, a Bible with a paper cover made from a music store bag, and a good smattering of mid-grade.

There’s been a dearth of adult fiction in my reading life these last few months, something I’d like to remedy. While my next three requests at the library are all books for grown ups — Present Over Perfect, Deep Work, and I Let You Go — only one is fiction. Three I’d like to read soon are The Passage; Ready, Player One; and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (I’ve only got two more months to tackle this last one. It feels right to read it while I’m 42).

I’ve got the Maypop Kidnapping on my to-read shelf, too. And I’m about 1/4 the way through Present Over Perfect right now! I’m reading an ecopy of the Call the Midwife book, too. Interesting stories!
I’m also reading Wish by Barbara O’Connor right now for MG reads. I want to start Laurie Halse Anderson’s newest after that, followed by Ghost by Jason Reynolds.

Lots of goodies you’ve got your hands on. I haven’t read any Jason Reynolds yet, which I must remedy soon. My gosh, he’s on fire!

Also, I’m almost done with Present Over Perfect. I’ve got slips of paper and sticky notes everywhere. I’d like to read it again in a year or two.

That’s the one I haven’t read yet. It’s been on my nightstand for TWO years at least (according to these pictures). I really will get to it. I’ve heard wonderful things.

      Will I see you tonight??

I was just going to email you and ask if you were going. I haven’t been able to make a schmooze since May – never gone that long before in years! – I’m going if you are! It would be nice to chat about our upcoming panel. I have no idea what we’re doing. Thanks! Are you doing dinner beforehand?
