September 7th and 20th Events + The Burning Season’s Educator’s Guide

I’ve got two more book events scheduled for next month. If you’re in the Albuquerque area, I’d love to see you there:
A reading and panel discussion with ABQ authors Khadijah VanBrakle and Laurel Goodluck at Bookworks Sunday, 7 September at 1:00pm.
A reading and book talk (with fire tower photos and biscochitos!) at Books on the Bosque Saturday, September 20 at 3:00pm.
The educator’s guide I created for The Burning Season has been jazzed up by Penguin’s School and Library department and is now available to download. You’ll find pre-reading activities, discussion questions, extension activities, and lots of links to maps, articles, photographs, and videos to enhance the reading experience as well as lists of picture books and middle grade novels that also deal with wildfire. The guide is ideal for classrooms, book clubs, and homeschooling families (but I suspect everyday readers might enjoy taking a look, too).
And don’t forget to sign up for the Wild(fire) About Books Club, a virtual (and free) thirty-minute discussion with Chris Baron and me for classrooms and book clubs who have read our wildfire verse novels, Spark and The Burning Season.
