Many of you have probably already read the following posts. For those of you who haven’t, please consider stopping by today:
- Nathan Bransford’s re-post on the public life of authors
- Jody Helund’s post on how much of marketing is the author’s responsibility (especially interesting to read alongside Nathan’s)
- Tess Hilmo’s post, Do’s and Don’ts by…well, by you, a list of writerly things to do and to avoid created by writers themselves
- Valerie Geary’s Link-Hopping Tuesday, which is always loaded with great links for writers
- Susan Quinn’s Writing a Thinking Book is a great look at middle-grade books for the advanced reader
What posts have been helpful to you this week? I’ll be happy to add to this list.
Thanks for the links. The Slushbusters have nominated you for a Sunshine Award. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much, Michelle!
I read Nathan’s post too, and thought it was interesting that a couple of weeks ago, he basically had the same message that my marketing team had: don’t try to do everything, but instead do what you like because it will show. I think his blanket statement in yesterday’s post, is just a tad misleading, but I understand what he’s saying too. Just my thoughts! 🙂
Jody, what I loved is the insider’s view you gave us. So many posts talk in generalities about what we should be trying, that it’s easy to get overwhelmed. And, like you said, Nathan’s post a few weeks ago talked about doing what works for YOU.
It was so interesting, though, to read your first-hand experience up against the now-dead idea of the reclusive author. With his post alone, I’d feel overwhelmed. Tempered with yours, it feels doable.
I always love what you (and he!)add to the conversation.
Thanks!
I love link hopping! Thanks 🙂
Some great links Caroline! Thanks!
