I’m linking up with Anne at Modern Mrs. Darcy to give readers a peek at my office bookshelves.
This is a headboard I found at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. I bought the cans of peach and cream paint there, too. Most of the books here are by friends whose titles debuted around the same time MAY B. did.
A few more friends’ books, a collection of Agatha Christie novels (written as Mary Westmacott — MUST get to these!), and the lovely, lovely A SENSE OF WONDER by the incomparable Katherine Paterson. Oh, and a picture of me in elementary school.
This bookcase was my summer art project last year, painted in the very New Mexican La Fonda blue.
This is my shelf with favorite books on writing.
Here are some of my research books for MAY B. and a couple of verse novels (I have to confess I don’t own many, though now that I’m looking, I can see some are missing. Hmmmm).
Lots of these I haven’t read yet, a couple from those “leave a book, take a book” shelves I can never walk past without getting something new.
The best book on this shelf? My Mother’s Day present: KFC Alien, a book of poetry!
Stashed under the headboard shelf is a pile of Roanoke books for my next novel, BLUE BIRDS.
And on the floor (you don’t even want to see the desk!) are bits and pieces of BLUE BIRDS, an ancient picture book manuscript I’m toying with resurrecting, and some resources for the manuscript I’m poking at right now.
I’d love to see your bookshelves! You can link over at Modern Mrs. Darcy through November 19.
Oh, mine aren’t nearly this pretty, though they are as full. These are lovely.
Ooooh! Historical research books-they are a complete weakness of mine! What else is under the top Roanoke book?
THE HEAD IN EDWARD NUGENT’S HAND, SET FAIR FOR ROANOKE, and THE LOST COLONISTS AND THEIR PROBABLE FATE. Which makes me wonder…where have the other books wandered off to??
You do NOT want to see the floor of my bedroom. My husband is so unhappy about the large pile of books there.
Mia, I relate. I used to have the typical nightstand pile and then the extra nightstand pile under the bed!
I love the color of that blue shelf! So pretty. And if I got to see these in person, I’d be asking you which books you picked up and which books you left behind at those “take a book, leave a book” shelves. I can’t resist those either. 🙂
Thanks for sharing your shelves!
