I haven’t finished this mid-grade novel yet, but I just have to share. Technically, I’m not reading but listening while running errands.
Has anyone read this yet? Even if you don’t read mid-grade, please pick this up. I don’t want to say too much, but I will say I’m finding a number of similarities between When You Reach Me and A Prayer for Owen Meany , a book that has stayed with me over the years.
Read, come back, and discuss!
Hi Caroline,
Thanks for stopping by at Books on the Nightstand. I am very intrigued by your comparison of When you Reach Me to A Prayer for Owen Meany. I’ve never read Owen Meany, but it has come up as an important book for many people over the last few months, and I think that’s the universe’s way of telling me to read it.
When I do read, I will definitely think about your comparison with When You Reach Me, which I loved.
Thanks!
Hi Ann,
Please let me know if you see similarities when you do!
I will have to pick that one up– as A Prayer for Owen Meany has long been on my list of most important books I’ve read…thanks for the tip!

Hi Caroline,
Thanks for visiting Twenty by Jenny. I read WHEN YOU REACH ME and was blown away by it. It’s one of my “recent picks” in the 8-12 range on my site. Please let me know when you’ve finished the book so we can discuss it. I have OWEN MEANY and haven’t read it. Now I will. Thanks for that. And how terrific that you have such a strong book club contingent! Congratulations!
Jenny, I’m done. Come back and talk!
