Why Yes, That is a Rubber Rat on My Desk

…and some mittens, a roll of packing tape, a birthday present, a bound manuscript, and lots of books. I work through the piles every month or so, but they quickly regenerate.
What’s your workspace like?

It’s a World Market / Cost Plus desk. Love it!

I love it! I can’t wait until I actually have a desk, because right now all the writing “stuff” (books on craft, inspirational images and items, other books, etc.) all gathers in my bedroom! There’s a shelf next to my bed that periodically looks like it was hit by a hurricane. πŸ™‚

I worked from a chair forever (and had piles all around). Honestly, I probably work more from the couch than the desk, but I love, love, love my space.

That’s awesome! It’s like one of those I-Spy pictures! πŸ™‚ What a beautiful place to work! I love seeing author’s work spaces. For now, I am still writing in a very non-writing space – my couch or my kitchen counter. I sometimes get envious of desks like yours, but in the end, what I do works for me, and I’d probably end up back on the couch anyway. πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing!

Exactly. What works for you is best.

Your desk look vaguely familiar. Though I have to say, I spent quite some time looking for a rubber rat. I work wherever and whenever I can. The car on a rainy day on my way home from running an errand seems to be a favorite. I think it is the small space combined with music that works for me.

I love writing in my car, too! On Tuesday I bought a coffee and sat in the library parking lot for hours, working on edits. Once while doing this, a girl got into the car next to mine and said, “Look, mom, that lady is still here!”

Your desk looks like mine! Cluttered but has so much life! I personally can’t write at my desk, but I can do all sorts of non-writerly stuff on there. My favorite place to write is in bed with lots of pillows!

It’s like an I Spy book … fun. I am scared of rats though! πŸ™‚ You must not be.

Someone else said it was like I Spy, too. I’m not a rat fan. It’s my son’s. Not sure how it ended up in here.
