Clear-Off-Your-Shelves Update

How are you doing with the Clear-Off-Your-Shelves Challenge? I have to admit, so far I’ve only read one book that would qualify. But what a book! Has anyone out there read The Shadow of the Wind? Wow. It reminded me a lot of the Latin American mystic writers with some gothic themes thrown in.

Come discuss it with me if you’ve read!

Don’t forget: the unofficial challenge continues until next November. Keep reading those books you’ve always meant to get to and come back and share.

Ha ha! This is never going to happen. But I will do something very rare for me and recommend a novel I just finished. The Moon in the Mango Tree by Pamela Binnings Ewen is excellent. The opening is a little unfocused, but if you stick with it, the writing is wonderful and the overall “build” of the plot and theme superior. Quality Christian fiction.

I’m writing it down. Does this take place in Thailand?

I’m sort of going the other way – my shelves have been getting more cluttered with great books I keep reading about in blogs! Plus I got this coupon for Chapters…

I only bought three books today. I’m actually rebuilding my library. I donated about a thousand books to my daughter’s elementary school when I “retired” from teaching. BIG MISTAKE! Now I’m slowly repurchasing the books I gave away.
