In August I…

…spent my last days at the Chautauqua Institution. Still remembering that dream of a week.

…went to Atlanta to meet my grandniece (who is absolutely precious).

…visited the Margaret Mitchell house...

…and Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Park.

…took a pottery class (the blue arrows point to my pieces).

…had both my boys in town for two weeks!

…took a quick family trip to Ruidoso, NM where flooding and fire are still very evident.

…started tentatively exploring a new picture book biography idea.

…shared the trail with this bull snake on a mountain run.

…celebrated my mom’s 84th birthday (listed in my calendar as “Polly Starr at Prairie Star“. Yes, my mom and I share a middle name.)

…Zoomed with a book club that had read The Burning Season.

…drove to Madison, WI with my son Caleb to help him settle into his first apartment — such a special time.

…ate all the tomato sandwiches (one of the best parts of having a garden).

*** If you’re in the ABQ area, I’ll be speaking at Books on the Bosque this Saturday, Sept 20 at 3:00pm. I’d love to see you there! ***
