Wisdom from A GATHERING OF DAYS

a gathering of days

Once I would have wished for that: never to grow old. But now I know that to stay young always is also not to change. And that is what life’s all about — changes going on every minute, and you never know when something begins where it’s going to take you.

So one thing I want to say about life is don’t be scared and don’t hang back, and most of all, don’t waste it.

I remember loving that book when it was first published. And the quote is inspiring. Happy 2015, Caroline!

I discovered it while first teaching in the mid-90s. My sister sent me this copy for Christmas. It was so lovely to revisit it. Happy New Year to you, too!

Hi Caroline! I haven’t read this one, but may need to add it to my list.
I just wanted to tell you that I have my 3rd grader “May B.” for Christmas and we’re reading it together. We are both loving it!

my mother bought me that exact copy for Christmas when I was about 12. I remember it was a long time before I finally read it, but I liked it and hung onto it, but have never reread it. Maybe I will.

I’m sure it’s considered slow by some, but I found I still loved it. Anything that is written as a journal has me from the start.
